An ode to Tony Joe White. I was lucky to have family in New Orleans and spent many a Carnival Season in the CrescentCity. Fred Staten, The Chicken Man was a friend and we swapped a blessing or two over the years. Good Luck!
This one is actually about an automobile. In 1968 I worked for a guy who had an Army Air buddy named Jimmy. After WW2 Jimmy and my Boss went back to Eastern Europe to smuggle surviving Jews out from under a descending Iron Curtain. Jimmy had this low, black Oldsmobile with a big engine. Ever since I've considered that Olds to be the smugglers ride of choice.
